The Marchmont Association has run its annual Shop Front Awards since 2006. The primary objective of these awards is to enhance the trading environment by improving the appearance of local shops. The awards also help to promote the restoration and conservation of the area's historic character, with many of the shops in Marchmont Street, Leigh Street, Judd Street and Tavistock Place occupying Grade II listed Georgian buildings and purpose-built Edwardian premises.

Each year local shops are assessed by an independent panel of judges, with awards being presented by the Mayor of Camden in different categories, including 'Best Kept Shop Front' and 'Most Improved Shop Front'. Special Commendations are made when appropriate, such as in 2009 when the Mayor presented a certificate to the longest, continuously trading shop in the area, Povey's Hardware store at 6 Leigh Street, but sadly, this shop ceased trading in September 2012.

Salon Savant, 108-110 Judd Street (pictured), received the award for Most Improved Shop Front in 2018.

Our awards have generated some media coverage for local businesses, as well as contributing to the general improvement of the area. Photographs of past award winners can be viewed on Flickr.com via the link below.
